- In pop culture, red represents love. In films, red symbolizes an alternate self within dreams, a distant yet comforting scenes filled with reminiscent tunes and summer breeze. In many contemporary Chinese artworks, red signifies motherhood, the feminine power of life, reminiscent of pomegranates, peeled open with its fruit consumed and taken out, ironically symbolizing fertility and the blessing of having many children. The pronunciation of "檎" is the almost identical as for "情" (QÃng, meaning emotion) and same as '"æ“’" (QÃn, meaning to capture). Through this play of homophones, I express my perception of this shade of red, reflecting my image in the sheen of red porcelain alluding to three separate meanings from a female perspective.
