- Wind appeals to all of my senses. Standing on a beach and inhaling the ocean breeze evokes memories of my childhood. It upturns and inscribes intricate patterns in the sand, in collaboration with the sea. In short, the ocean’s breath moves me. In a more general sense, what fascinates me about wind is its ability to bring change, interrupting stagnancy. With its sheer power, wind could provide enough energy for a community to thrive and also has the potential to be its very source of destruction. An interesting paradox! My piece, “Windy Contemplation,” uses the flute to portray a light representation of the wind. Its loaded undercurrent is not always as simple.
