Program Notes: “Rhapsody” (2014) for organ was written for and is dedicated to Christian Lane. The work begins quietly and gradually builds in intensity, developing in several sections entirely from material presented at the outset. While the majority of my organ works take their inspiration from the pre-baroque organ literature (and its contemporary descendants), this is a piece whose antecedents are clearly in the great romantic organ masters of the late 19th century.
