Program Notes
Music can make us aware of something of reality by making visible how the interpretation of reality is influenced by culturally, socially and biographically pre-formed patterns of interpretation. Inkonsequenza for virtual ensemble is a piece that was conceived as an instrumental work but is realized by a vocal ensemble. Typical instrumental gestures, textures and sound situations are used and transferred to the voices. This illustrates the consequences of the experimental frame shift for human perception: how does a virtual instrumental ensemble sound different from an actual instrumental ensemble? But how does the virtual instrumental ensemble also sound different from what one might expect it to sound like?
