- Campfires, an eight movement work, explores freedom and improvisation via free-time and unreasonably long pulses in the early movements which eventually coalesce into conventional time in the middle movements, dissipating again in the final movement. Campfires was written to accompany the sunset in mid-summer, near or on the solstice. Its two performances were both in this time frame, and each event was as concerned with the setting as with the music: the wind in the trees, the mosquitos, and the setting sun. After hours: four friends alone, together, lost in the eternal campfire
