- This piece of music was written as an impressionistic interpretation of the wind and weather patterns here in Florida.
The piece begins in a windy afternoon with storms building in the distance. By rehearsal marking A, a small whirlwind forms lifting the listener up into the clouds.
What began as a soaring flight quickly turns into dark, dismal clouds of a thunderstorm. At rehearsal marking D, the listener is taken even higher into the sky, above the clouds to see a beautiful purple sunset.
The score is marked "Ephemerally." In this piece, "ephemerally" is used to evoke a sense of transient and evanescent beauty, often leaving a lasting impression despite its brevity."
