- "Sublimation" refers to transitioning from a solid to a gas without liquidizing. In Freudian psychology terms, "to sublimate is to divide an impulse from its desired goal to something more acceptable in social and moral behavior." The piece has a powerful theme and support through loud pizzicati, hammering solidity before phasing through a hazy sensation akin to relaxing or meditation. The theme returns to its original state and "sense of comfort," where the orchestra shares main and counter melodies alike in unison. Everything recounts itself at the end, not forgetting the journey preceding it. There can be several emotions felt throughout, from contemplation and unease to excitement and relief.
