- Program Notes
- This was a deeply personal piece for me to compose. I wrote this in between semesters while I was living basically alone during the winter. I was dealing with lots of problems with my mental health, but did not have many ways to process them. This piece is one of the only ways I was processing and coping with my struggles. I believe the idea of using clouds to represent every thoughts we have as humans is perfect. In this piece, my goal was to create a dark, dense, frigid atmosphere, which eventually breaks out into a stormy climax. There is also a clear juxtaposition between hope and hopelessness. One can not exist without the other; hope is exactly what makes hopelessness so tragic. It was important for me to give that context to the listener. I hope that people can process their emotions through this piece as much as I did.
