- The term "human wall" is a reference two things: 1. the intensity of the sound created by important moments in the piece when all of the performers are playing loudly and together very forcefully. 2. moments in life when you first believe that all the odds are against you, but in time the realization comes that the only thing standing in your way is your own self. "Human Wall" was composed in June of 2011. This revised version was completed in April of 2012. The work was premiered by: Caitlyn Phillips, flute/piccolo Allison Bates, bass clarinet Sean Richey, electric guitar Midori Witskoski, viola Vivan Chang, cello Clara Warnaar, percussion Jonathan Koe, piano Kyle Ritenauer, conductor
