I’ve written this piece as a reflection on the beauty of being held; being held gently and being made to feel delicate by someone you love. The piece traverses the stillness of such an embrace, while reminding the listener that it is not possible to rely on this affection as a solution for despair. While trying to further abstract this idea when diving into this piece, I began to think of this concept as holding someone as if they were water in your hands; there’s an intense amount of care and delicacy that goes into such an act. Even with the utmost gentleness and caution, water will always still slip between your fingers.
