- Three pianists, three credit cards, a social distancing context and a pianoforte. In times of social distancing, three pianists work on, around, inside and with a pianoforte, trying to respect the minimum safe distance allow in a pandemic. How is it possible? The piece is a performative work in which two pianists play virtuously in the extremes of the keyboard keeping distance and sometimes change the places fast. Both play with credit cards on the strings of the instrument in a fast and actionfull tempo, while a third pianist plays a tom-tom in a healthy distance and practically vis-à-vis from its colleagues. The third pianist starts a musical and performative interaction with the other both and integrates itself slowly in the performative and virtuous credit cards context. The performance of “Vis – a – Vis (a)” is to be both visual and sonic. The important point in the performance of “Vis – a – Vis (a)” is the thematic of social distancing and “economy”, two very present aspects of the world situation in our current context. That is why the play with the words “Vis-a” as an analogy to the Visa credit cards and the waited and feared financial crisis through the pandemics. “Vis – a – Vis (a)” is a satirical and tragical expression of a society which tries to conduct an artistical self-reflection despite of strong limitations and crisis situation.
