- Program Notes
- The knives would be large and flashy. The dancers would court serious injury spinning and juggling them, and amaze you with their skill. Occasionally, they’d actually hurt themselves while practicing, but they'd dress the injury well and wear the scar with a goofy sort of honour. The dance is lesbian because it’s mine, but also in reference to Sappho. I’m tracing between those ancient Lesbian ethics and those of contemporary queer people, and of bass music which I've started dancing to. One useful reference point was a tape recording I made of Sano performing at Newtown's Moon.
