honour thy error as a hidden intention takes its name from one of the cards from Brian Eno and Peter Schmidt’s Oblique Strategies, and while writing I reflected on the paintings by the visual artist Gerhard Richter. In particular, the pieces where layers of paint are applied to the canvas and subsequently scraped off using a variety of implements, such as large palette knives and self-made tools, with differing levels of velocity and pressure revealing intricate textures underneath. With this imagery in mind, this piece seeks to emulate the same energy and the unforeseen outcomes, as through each of the six panels the music slowly distils and disintegrates.
