- Sunrise Songs, as a genre of songwriting, have been known since the pre-Christian period, this is one of the most archaic genres in the Armenian highlands. The cycle consists of 3 parts: poetic texts by Nerses Shnorali /13th century/, Misak Metsarents /beginning of the 19th century/, Vahagn Davtyan /end of the 19th century/, where the key idea is Light. In the first part, it is the light of the Sun, as a symbol of eternal divine Light, it is an absolutely spiritual text, in the second part, the light appears as flashes of the moon, it is a somewhat impressionistic approach to light, and in the third part, it is the metamorphosis of light into fire (Tagh of Fire). The idea of the Tagh (poem), both in the text and in the musical language, is very characteristic of the composer and has a tendency to make a new modern reference to that medieval genre, also in this work.
