- Liquid Metal is a high octane and erratic work originally written as a concert closer for Trio h3lÃos and later expanded to saxophone quartet. Written in early 2021, the piece takes inspiration from the unpredictability of the COVID-19 pandemic, utilizing asymmetric meters and jarring transitions to create a feeling of anxiety and uncertainty. The title ‘Liquid Metal’ refers to the fluidity of the music’s form as well as the overall heavy metal-influenced aesthetic.
