- "Apnea" for Ensemble(2023) is derived from the term "apnea," which refers to a pause in breathing. The composition draws inspiration from the freediving discipline known as "Static Apnea," where divers attempt to remain apneic underwater for extended periods. Prior to submerging, the diver breathes sufficiently outside the water, and as they descend, their breathing decreases. The piece portrays the diver's diverse experiences through distinct sounds and materials. Intermittent breathing is interwoven with the presented sounds, creating a novel sonic image. The composition captures the essence of this underwater journey, evoking the diver's changing sensations and interactions with their surroundings.
