This piece’s title is intentionally hiding what I really mean.
From August of 2022 to May 2023, I have seen a lot of new things, had new experiences, but also feels like sometimes certain image or memories are so far away yet the summer of me being in Starbucks, hearing the roaming sounds of coffee machine while listening to 88 rising’s California is just yesterday. This piece also pictures time lapses where I am the only one awake at 2 am due to jet lags, moments of euphoric feeling, impulsive sadness and anger, and the sense of “dream”, where everything in Chapel Hill feels all like a game that I can just click off and leave with a $3000 plane ticket. Exactly like the title, it feels like the true experiences I am having this year is not chronological, not consecutive, can be easily put down into a resume yet the subjective experiences can only be effectively delivered through a montage.
In short, this piece is me trying to jot down everything that I cannot say yet wish to deliver, willing to forget yet eagerly hoping to remember, objective in that it is mainly referring to images that I have seen in real life, but subjective in that it has been filtered through my eyes.
