- “Xerox” was composed using graphic notation, space notation and improvisation as its central idea. It is inspired by the theme of finding freedom and peace in and after a crisis. The freedom the players have while interpreting the graphics symbolizes the freedom that people found while experiencing the “New Normality” during the Coronavirus pandemic. For the composer, this freedom is breaking free from the expectation of what composition should be, following her passion and realizing that she can thrive and work on her dreams even in a pandemic. This composition is about breaking the walls inside us and finding freedom of expression and life in situations of crisis.
