- Glint is an exploration of sonic luminosity, the ensemble dips in and out of darkness — at times flickering and reflective; at others, only abstract shapes backlit by a faint glow. In their traversal the players map an amorphous soundscape of shadows given form by shimmering flashes of light. Glint is concerned with temporal flexibility and constantly shifting degrees of ensemble unity within a sound world whose contours and boundaries are dictated by timbre. The piece is closely tied to the second poem in Paul Auster’s collections, of Effigies, as well as the post-sunset silhouette of the Northern Coast Mountain Range which boarders California’s Sacramento Valley. “The myriad haunts of light.
