- The ik’ is the spirit of the wind. It is also the second day of the maya calendar. The ik’ is a spirit that is responsible of infusing life in to earth. Its patron is the god of wind. For the Maya the wind played an important role. ​The work is inspired by the authentic peoples of southern Mexico, specifically the MAYAN. A short work for flute that, without straying too far from traditional notation, tries to give freedom of expression, break some barriers of metric structure, and create sound effects typical of the wind instruments used by native peoples. The wind and its symbolism is very important for these cultures and there are many vestiges of primitive flutes from the beginning of their cultures. This composition tries to create a connection with the modern flute and the flutes of the past.
