Dil-e-Nadaan is an Urdu poem that I grew up listening to and later rediscovered as an adult. The title means “naive heart”; “dil” means heart and “nadaan” is similar to naive or innocent. In rediscovering this poem I learnt that my perception of time is not linear but rather ebbs and flows, and my memories do the same. This piece captures that essence of visiting distant memories, rediscovering them in a new context, and perceiving them with a new, deeper level of understanding.
