- Program Notes
- Defined as “the vegetative part of a fungus, consisting of a network of fine white filaments”, this composition uses the intimate sonorites of stringed instruments playing as quietly as possible, and at times, making only air sounds. The colors in this piece are of crystalline, wispy overtones, mixed with tiny trembling shimmers that evoke an abstract depiction of the aforementioned small filaments in soil- rooting and growing; exploring through the fertile loam. This piece makes use of intimate performance venues, where the audience can be close to the performers, and immerse themselves in the atomicity of the colorings of wood, metal, and hair.
