Program Notes
This beautiful poem I remember hearing when I was in high school and is one of a few I committed to memory. Shortly after I started college and began to dabble in music composition, this was one of the first pieces I completed. It is a rather short piece that should not be harmonically difficult to sing. The tempo should not be strict throughout. Ensembles are free to find their own ebb and flow within each phrase using the tempo markings as a point of reference to stay around. This, I feel, lends more weight to the text while causing the piece to become more intimate for the performers and, thus, the audience.
Recording Notes
I had difficulty finding a group of people who I could record while singing this. So I took matters into my own hands a recorded myself singing all of the parts.
