- Bòcain was commissioned and written across 2018-19, with first performances in Glasgow, Scotland and London, England in the Spring and Summer of 2019. The piece was written in tandem with the performer of its first performance, and makes use of the violin's extraordinary range and different techniques. Based on some Gàidhlig folk melodies, with extensive use of the violin's technical abilities and the composer's developmental ability, the piece is a challenging work that fits best in resonant acoustic spaces. The composer must be informed of all performances, which are strongly encouraged wherever possible.
