- The piece “closing” is about the struggle to find a satisfying conclusion. I explore the main melody three separate times with slight variations, however, two of the variations’ “closing” passages open up a new harmonic center which then doesn't let the piece resolve in a harmonically satisfying way. The third variation ends not resolving the last suggested perfect cadence thus not allowing the piece a satisfying closing. The closing of York Musicroom where I had been working was an influence on the piece as it’s not just the end of a chapter in York’s History but also an end of a chapter in my life too.
