This work is written in a single movement form as a journey through sections of varying musical character, always being approachable and interesting. It takes the original Baroque meaning of "Sonata" meaning "to play" in the sense that it is a major solo piano work. While not in a strict sonata form, some of its principles of contrast, development, and recapitulation can be found in this work. I am indebted to the piano works of various composers who acted as influences including: Ravel, Scriabin, Dutilleux, and Vine.
