The "Tre studi sul dialogo" (three studies on dialogue) for flute and accordion are three reflections on the communicative relationship that multiple entities (sound and visual) can establish with each other. I wanted to transport the idea of broken monodicity from the solo instrument to the two instruments, as well as to the two instrumentalists: to do so, I forced myself to maintain what is the characteristic expressive dynamic of this technique, namely the tight dialogue between the entities, be they the voices or the performers themselves. The same approach is also respected within the treatment of the instrument itself: the technical-gestural expressiveness doubles in both the flute and the accordion, bringing out an alternation of constraining timbral-sound levels, a polyphony within polyphonies. Although it is an almost purely sonic-musical reflection, the exaltation of the dialogic and communicative aspect demands an interpretive-theatrical deepening, not only at the performative level but even at the compositional level: without venturing into a real dramaturgy, it is nevertheless indispensable for the performers to place themselves in a strictly expressive condition, understood as "pressure (i.e. exaltation) of a gesturality"; if you will, the gestural exaggeration becomes a communicative structure.
