- Personal Edward Cohen - Piano Program Notes Deux personne is a piece written for solo piano that presents two characters with different personalities who are trying to get along. The moods of these characters are captured by three different musical ideas; a melodic and repeated note gesture in the right hand and a left hand that’s moving up slowly by step-wise motion with occasional leaps. While this is going on, there are moments in the piece where the texture gets interrupted by unrelated material. All of these ideas have their own individual trajectories and are cut and pasted together to create the form of a collage
