- Arnold Schoenberg is known as one of the titans of twentieth century music composition. It is no accident, then, that the story of his death is just as strange and idiosyncratic as his life. Having passed away on Friday, July 13th, 1951, at 11:47pm, Arnold Schoenberg died at the age of 76 of a heart attack after complaining of his triksadecaphobia (fear of the number 13) all day. This is that story.
