Program Notes
This piece was inspired by a hike I liked to take with my good friend Jay Lichtmann. Located in Burlington, CT, the Mile of Ledges is a portion of the Tory Den Trail with a rocky outcrop that splits off from a long ledge. At the start of this rock formation, you must choose to go either left or right, not knowing which piece of rock will be more treacherous. The middle section of this piece (which we call The Line) was meant to feel like that ledge, with wild runs and nowhere to go but straight ahead, without looking down. This recording appears as track 9 on the Mr. Chair debut album Nebulebula: https://mrchair.bandcamp.com/album/nebulebula It features: Ben Ferris - double bass Mark Hetzler - trombone Jason Kutz - piano Mike Koszewski - drums with Beth Larson and Paran Amirinazari, violins; Ariel Garcia, viola; Mark Bridges, cello Check out Mr. Chair at: https://www.mrchairmusic.com/
