Sakura Saku (The Cherry Blossom Blooms) is a work for solo flute inspired by the delicate blossoming of cherry trees. Sparse, breath-like sounds evoke wind passing through branches and the stillness before spring. Gradually, these gestures unfold into more animated figures, mirroring the blossoms as they begin to open, swirl and scatter. Rather than presenting a linear narrative, the piece invites the listener to experience the fleeting, shifting colours of nature, as blossoms emerge, shimmer in the light, and dissolve back into silence.
