Ornitottero is a chamber ensemble composition inspired by the drawings and theoretical studies conducted by Leonardo da Vinci around the 15th century, depicting a mechanical device that would have allowed humans to fly using only muscular propulsion.
The composition, conceived as a single movement, is divided into 5 micro-sections, where the use of onomatopoeic techniques and madrigalism seeks to represent the technical, practical, and creative aspects of a design study.
SECTIONS:
(A) Propellers - Imitation of the aviation process
(B) Conception - Representation of the creative flow
(C) Construction - Construction and assembly of the aircraft
(D) A(De)scension - Due to physical limitations, the aircraft would never have been able to sustain flight, resulting in a descent after a brief ascent
(E) Fly - A poetic representation of the hypothetical flight of this mechanical device.
