Program Notes

In New York City, there are many waterways that burst into and throughout the boroughs that were originally used for shipping and transportation. They lie, now, as a reminder of the polluted histories of these canals that continue to create lasting ecological issues. One of these such spots, English Kills, was close to my home in Brooklyn during my time there. Though I often long for naturals respites from the urbanity of the city, waterways such as these never offered quite that relief. This piece seeks to evoke and interrogate the feelings I would have walking over the English Kills in Brooklyn.
