Artemis was born out of my imagination of what it might feel like to travel to the moon for the very first time. I imagined the silence of space, the beauty of seeing the earth from far away, and the mixture of fear, wonder, loneliness, and excitement that such a journey could bring. The title is inspired by the Artemis missions and humanity’s continued dream of exploring beyond our world. Written for solo cello, the piece allows a single instrument to tell an emotional and deeply personal story. The music moves through moments of stillness, tension, mystery, and intense energy, reflecting the changing emotions of an imagined voyage through space. At times, the cello sings lyrically and warmly; at others, it becomes distant and restless, almost as if searching through the unknown. More than anything, Artemis is about wonder — the childlike curiosity of looking at the moon and imagining what lies beyond it. It is my musical reflection on exploration, imagination, and the beauty of the unknown.
