Prelude No. 1
Gustav Ertbølle- Program Notes
This piece is a little teaser for what I hope will soon become a larger project. It was performed by my friend and receiver of the Jacob Gades-scholarship, Robin Wohner, and we're in the process of securing some funding to turn this into a collection of preludes, which will then be recorded by him with a more professional setup.
The plan for the preludes is to let each of them be a little self-contained narrative (building upon the conventions of Debussy and Messiaen), but which on the macroscopic level reference the material of one another, creating a larger meta-narrative. I want to play around with the idea of perspective, causal ambiguity and non-linear storytelling, where it is maybe unclear what the chronology of these preludes really is in this "meta-narrative", but where they somehow amount to a coherent image anyways - like little pieces of a grander puzzle. But all of this has yet to be realized, so for now you can just enjoy it as the piece that it is.
