- Movement 2, Nurture, attempts to convey the tender side of parenting. It starts with an almost lonely viola solo until finally the family notices. Starting off with gentle pizzicato in the cello and counter lines in the twin violins, the melody eventually grows and blooms until a sudden pause. The parents, now showing their gentle side comfort the lonely child and teach it everything will be okay, even in its darkest times. Everything then builds to the climatic point of the movement. Once there, everything bursts forth. The love of the family makes its appearance evermore apparent. After such a display, the music finally settles down with one final, warm hug.
