- Video: https://youtu.be/wMHWAsxtb3s ––– „a form of life that exists in editing and by editing” - St. – „durch neues und mannigfaltig verschiedenartiges Aneinanderfügen [...] dieser Teile” - W. – „Betrachte es als etwas Abscheuliches, [...] etwas [...] wegzulassen.” - Sch. – Even more than the question of the material of New Music, I am interested in the question of the ‘operations’ of New Music - how a perceptible logic of the sequence of sounds can be developed, the changes of which are also perceptible over the course of the composition. In short: changing the rules for linking sounds in order to make music comprehensible as a form of sound that can be manipulated by humans. ––– Here, however, I am not interested in understanding for its own sake, but rather in simplifying the perceptibility of the differences and similarities between similar but different sounds or sound sources and bringing various juxtapositions into new contexts. The juxtaposition here consists of electronic speech synthesis (the samples of which are played live by the keyboard) and the imitation of these sounds by the ensemble, for which I have orchestrated the lightning-fast noises and pitches of this computer voice. Operations are thus clear - rebuilding a sentence (I chose one by Bertolt Brecht), dividing individual words on both sides of the juxtaposition, rapid changes in these distributions, etc. ––– Recognisability of the language? Probably a hopeless endeavour, but through this very failure I hope to discover the beauty of a new perspective on the nature of the instrumental ensemble and the sound structure of language at the same time. ––– In the second half of the composition, the structures from the beginning are taken up again, but this time the samples are somehow different...
