- This is the first movement of a larger work, yet unfinished. I began this piece as a classroom project in 2008, only to revisit and finish it this year (2024). We had a strong pair of horn players and a strong timpanist that year, so the horns and timpani are featured. Sawtooth Passage is inspired by a family trip through northern Idaho / Montana in 1984 that was at times exhilarating, frightening, and serene.
