Program Notes: Commande des Cris de Paris | Geoffroy Jourdain (A.V.E.C) For years, I've wanted to create a cycle of pieces where the scores function like a city map: in it, performers can choose their path, move freely from one point to another, provoking encounters and separations, leaving a unique and unpredictable sonic trace through their movements on the score. This is how Mobiles was born, a piece for choir inspired by the "moving sculptures" of Alexander Calder (who has also inspired so many other composers over the past decades). I had the joy of creating this piece as part of the AVEC project (Ateliers Voix Et Composition), a series of composition workshops dedicated to vocal writing for emerging composers, offered by the wonderful Les Cris de Paris.
