Program Notes
Béton (concrete) is a piece for children's choir that aims to evoke a sensitive and engaged perspective on how we inhabit the world, especially in large cities. In four short episodes, the piece uses singing – with a somewhat different kind of score – to evoke familiar aspects of city life, like advertising, architecture that sometimes feels hostile, communication difficulties, and the feeling that things could be different.
