Program Notes
Inspired by electronic music and minimalism, threads of execution draws its name from computer science, in which a thread of execution is a sequence of programmed instructions that can be managed independently by an operating system. In this composition, the multiple voices trailing in and out of the constantly moving melody are meant to represent multiple threads can exist at the same time within the same process. These threads are weaved throughout the work, passing between voices and being altered with each restatement. This work begins with a single process, accompanied by three other processes, eventually reaching a climax leading towards a calmer middle section. However, this interlude is proven brief as an altered version of the first melody returns leading toward a bombastic climax, or server error, followed by the eventual fading out of the threads as their strings of code are deleted.
