Program Notes: The score of "The Trace" is a huge paper tape, which the vocalists slowly rewind during the performance of the piece. This is a very phisical moment of the sensation of time: the performer "winds through time" of the piece with his hands, and the viewer sees, like a slider on YouTube video, how much has passed and how much is left. This is allow me to decept of the viewer's expectations - when the paper tape ends, a false final of the piece appears. And after the reaction of the listners, the real ending is played. The piece's text is a facebook post I accidentally found on my friend Katya Pomelova. It is built on multiple negations (I am not a function, I am not an occupation, I am not a body, etc.) and seeks the fragile feeling of "I."
