- Program Notes
- Flutter, Swoop, and Wheel is a phantasy upon the first 20 bars of Beethoven’s String Trio in C minor, Op. 9 #3 (1st theme and transition of 1st movement). The focus is shifted from meter and harmony to timbre and dynamics (Ligeti loved Beethoven!). The work was one of a set of works commissioned by the Amorsima Trio commemorating the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth.
