Tomas Gueglio. Triste y Madrigal

Triste y madrigal (2021) is structured as two

movements with a short pre-recorded interlude.

The interlude features sounds from the movie

‘Cita en la frontera’, specifically, the orchestral

music that accompanies the opening credits and

dialogue from a narratively climactic scene

between the protagonist (Luisa, played by

Lamarque) and a feisty young farmer (Chunguita)

(video). In Triste…the instruments work in pairs 1) soprano and violin 2) flute and French horn 3) harp and guitar.

These duos embellishing the melodic scaffolding provided by the sine waves in the tape part.
