Program Notes
Baba Yaga is a cannibalistic witch from Slavic folklore who lives deep in the forest in a hut perched on chickens’ legs and chases her victims before devouring them. This piece characterises the enigmatic and repulsive witch, and her omnipresence over the forest. Compositional techniques used in this piece draw from minimalist and contemporary classical music styles.
