- Delirium is a piece written to evoke the condition of the same name. Delirium (noun) - an altered state of consciousness, characterized by episodes of confusion, that can develop over hours or days. Throughout this treacherous piece lies virtuosity on the part of the performers to play what is written. This piece has very distinct sections in it, each one vamping the delirious state of mind. These sections are contrasted by ones of uneasy calm and nervousness as the delirious state of mind subsides.
