Program Notes: "A Prayer for Hope" is a heartfelt piece for me. It was written during a time when I felt as through there was no hope to be found in my life. With my father's passing one year prior to the creation of this piece to a complete burnout from what I wanted to do for a career. I felt like my whole life up to this point was wasted. A friend of mine, Ethan, asked me to pray one December evening while we were talking, a week before Christmas of 2022—the first year of my father gone—and I heard the melody for this piece pierce through me as I prayed to God for an answer to what I could do. This piece was what cleansed my mind of the sorrows and burdens of my past. I now know what it felt like to have a prayer truly answered. A prayer for hope and a prayer for peace. A prayer for the future when it seems bleak. A prayer for my mother and family. I felt like He provided me with the answers I needed. There is hope there. You choose your own destiny. And the past is merely memories. They can't hurt you. Keep going. And never stop...
