- Toddlers in a small group tend to exhibit what is called "parallel
play"— they may all be in the same room playing but are not
necessarily playing together with one another. At times, these parallel
lines of play cross, or even become "perpendicular". Some very
beautiful moments can occur when this happens. Also, some less than beautiful conflicts may emerge when one toddler’s domain, or
use of a toy, overlaps with another’s.
