- So many aspects of our industrial infrastructure here in Louisiana have become so massive that they are almost inseparable from the natural landscape. The Mississippi River itself exists within industrial confines created through human intervention. To me this results in an undeniable tension- tension between water and floodwall, freight vessel and current. In each of this work, I explore senses and scenes that made up my adolescence: the motion of water, the passage of weather systems and the stark, sickly beauty of our industrial landscapes. I hope to conjure images of the batture, Myrtle Grove, Pilot Town, Grand Isle, Port Fourchon, NORCO and the Bonnet Carré Spillway. Tide Vessel was written between 2020 and 2022 and recorded from October 2022 to September 2023.
