A freelance composer, Peng Zhiye studied in the Composition Department of Sichuan Conservatory, under Prof. Zou Xiangping, and later briefly studied in Europe with Yann Robin and Klaus Lang. He has been primarily influenced by spectralism, minimalism, Wandelweiser among others, seeking to unfold a broad spectrum of sonic landscapes and organic structures that indicates a biotic scenario, in a preference for slow evolvement. He is a signed composer with BabelScores, a Paris-based publisher for select contemporary music. His compositions include orchestral, chamber, acousmatic, and incidental music etc., which have been premiered in China, Europe and South America.
